About Duluth Drain Field Pros
Duluth Drain Field Pros is a locally owned septic system contractor working private septic ground in and around Duluth, Minnesota. We replace failed drain fields, repair the parts of a system that can be repaired, install complete systems on unsewered lots, replace tanks and baffles, build mounds and other alternative designs, run soil testing and system design, fix sewer and lateral lines, and handle commercial jobs. Minnesota licenses and insures us for this work.
The part that matters is buried, so here it is in plain words. We cut trench bottoms level, because a bottom on a slope feeds one end and starves the other. We size the field off the soil evaluation rather than off the shape of the lawn. We put an effluent filter in the outlet tee so solids never reach the ground. Then we grade the finished area to shed surface water away from the trenches. A field built that way outlives the machine that dug it.
This ground makes the job harder than it is in most of the country. Old volcanic rock runs close under thin forest soil across St. Louis County, and the water table stands high near Lake Superior and the inland lakes. A trench field needs clean unsaturated soil underneath it, and many lots here run out of soil first. That is why mounds and at-grade systems are ordinary work in the Northland. Frost is the other constraint, and it drives deeper here than anywhere else in the state.
We turn work away too. Send a routine cleanout to a pump truck, because that is their job and their price beats ours on it. A slow fixture with dry ground outside belongs to a plumber. Nothing sold in a bottle rebuilds soil that has sealed, so we will not sell you a season of hope while the yard gets worse. And we never promise a winter dig, because frozen ground does not care about a schedule.
